How does the therapy develop?
- After the assessment where we pinpoint your own mental structure, we will be able to relate this to the way you feel and how this dictates the way you behave.
- By talking about your normal everyday life and the problems that you face we will identify emotional and behavioural patterns; we will find that they repeat overtime and that the repetition is the cause of the suffering you feel.
- We also begin to build a new and adjusted structure relevant to your present. At this point you will begin to see changes in the way you feel and the start of new actions or plans. We will develop new ways of dealing with the situations that were previously creating distress. In this way the distress eventually goes away and we can establish a sense of well-being.
How long does therapy take?
The time in therapy is determined by the depth of the problem or whether the symptom/problem is specific or has generalised to other parts of your life.
