Using a semi-structured interview we will reach a conclusion about what are the problems and how to deal with them. Depending on the severity of the problem we can use counselling or therapy.

Long term depression

Long-term depression is the accumulation of multiple losses that the process of grieving has misidentified and have not been resolved successfully. A process of therapy can identify where the multiple losses lie and accordingly deal with them so you can begin to grieve each one naturally. Some research suggests that long term depression may cause more cognitive symptoms, such as low self-esteem, difficulty making decisions or concentrating, and pervasive feelings of hopelessness. While major depression may cause more vegetative symptoms, such as poor appetite or overeating, insomnia or excessive sleep. Clinical Psychology therapies help us how to treat depression, more so than medication alone.

Emotional difficulties

When the way we feel is not in accord with how we want to live our lives, it is time to review our ideals and goals.

Success in life is about adapting to all situations, understanding how we feel allows us to develop new ideals and goals in the present and to abandon the traps of the past.

Dealing with loss, grief, bereavement problems or post breakage of relationships

The human body is designed to grieve when we lose people we love through death. However, when we experience loss in general, the body may get confused about how to deal with these feelings. When it is difficult to pinpoint what makes us sad or tearful, we feel as though we will never recover. Through research and clinical experience, we can detect the cause for the feeling of loss, i.e. sometimes the loss of a partner resembles feelings felt for a parent, once the body detects the cause of the loss you start grieving naturally and find an end to your suffering.

Dealing with fears and anxiety

When our bodies do not do what we tell them and anxiety or fear dominates our actions, it is time to act and consult with a Clinical Psychologist that provides therapies on how to treat anxiety, to allow you to return to a normal state of affairs in your life.

Personal insecurity

While we grow and receive our education, we may receive contradictory messages about ourselves. This makes us doubt how to best deal with life’s issues. In many cases it can be a symptom of low self-esteem due to our life experiences so together we can work through that and help you grow inner confidence.

Doubting sexuality

We all assume depending on whether we are born male or female that our identity will follow an established pattern. However, when biology does not match our identity, then we may strive and this inconsistency may lead to great suffering. Clinical Psychologists understand how to develop these emotions that will allow you to feel at ease with who you really are.

Sexual, physical or psychological abuse

Extreme experiences lived during childhood may interfere with adult life. We experience all kinds of symptoms but we initially do not relate them to past difficulties. Talking to a Clinical Psychologist may allow you to correlate your current difficulties to where they originated and, once detected, initiate a process of grief and closure.

Problems sleeping

During our lifespan our sleep needs change. However, there are patterns and behaviours that help or interfere with restful sleep. A Clinical Psychologist can help you identify the interference whether it is biological, emotional or behavioural and assist you in returning to restful sleep patterns.

Difficulties dealing with families

The mind uses pre-existing ways of dealing with others; the way we behave is an interaction between how we are and how we perceive others to be. These two ways can agree or clash.  Using therapy as a tool when they clash, we can learn to see how we perceive others and this new perception will change how we deal with them. Whether it is your spouse, your children, or your parents, difficulties can be reduced while at the same time changing your perception of them.
